Counting the one-block walk to Safeway to get change for laundry, the 20 minutes eating a slice at the pizzeria around the corner, and the five or six cigarettes, I think I prolly spent a grand total of 30-45 minutes outside of my apartment today. And while I do hate the resulting social awkwardness, I gotta say I'm lovin it.
Too bad I have to go to class on Tuesday and Wednesday. And then Tony and Frank come into town for the weekend on Friday. If it wasn't for all that, I think I might go for a record. I have plenty of food--what else do you need? Toilet paper? Check. Liquor? Enough. Tea? A bit. Coffee? With cream and sugar.
I've always been strangely attracted to tests like this. Like when lived in New York and was required to take a week off but didn't have money to go out of town, I thought it might be fun to live on the streets for a week. I thought I'd try to ride every single subway line from end to end, on one token. I never did any of those things, never spent more than a night on the streets, but what I have in mind now is hardly as extreme.
I think I'm going to try to bunker down in my cave for six whole days--Wednesday night to Tuesday evening. I might have to build up to it, like running a marathon, but the only forseeable outcome is transcendence to pure energy, right?

I did meet Kathy (she's cool!) and I did add you to my list of bootlegish list of links on my blog.
Stay well. And stop using the word "prolly" you lazy bastard.
